Sole F80 Treadmill (2011 Model) Review

Sole F80 Treadmill (2011 Model)

I am a regular amazon customer and frequently buy here but somehow for this purchase, I decided to buy from Sole directly. The delivery was not fast, took 10 days but the box was in great shape and the delivery service was good (I paid for the delivery to any room, which I highly recommend if you have to negotiate stairs with this 300 pound box).
The running surface is excellent, my wife is the main user and she has put more than 5 miles a day on this machine at more than 7 miles an hour for 45 days so this thing is getting some great use. The running surface is cushioned well as advertised. The fact that the buttons are set for predefined (4, 6, 8, 10 miles/hr) does not bother me so much but the time it takes to speed up or slow down to the predefined speed is noticeable.
Some of the accessories are funny in my mind. I think adding the fan is kind of unnecessary since it adds little to no benefit. I also think the speakers are of course not excellent quality. I have found the "music pass through" (plug my iphone to the treadmill and then speakers to the headphone jack) to be very useful as I can now control the music while running. The cup holder is in a very awkward position (lower shelf below console), don't imagine you could actually use this while running.
I have used the heart rate belt with great results and find it very useful but the handlebar heart-rate monitor has not worked for me. I considered calling Sole about this but honestly, you can't run or even walk comfortably, holding them.
In regards to putting it together, it was not difficult except I had some difficulty getting the plastic covers over the siderails-console) to line up well. I only needed help with moving the running surface out of the box (heavy) and then some help holding the console in place (light) while screwing pieces together. I put it together in less than an hour. I really like the folding mechanism. My 100 pound wife could comfortably raise and lower this with no danger (the lowering is vacuum assisted to prevent it from falling on someone).
Overall:
running surface 4-5 stars (quiet and soft)
controls: 3 stars (awkward set up with some of the settings and time to speed up/down)
accessories: 2 stars (poor location and or poor function)

FreeMotion X3 Treadmill Incline Trainer Review

FreeMotion X3 Treadmill Incline Trainer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is 99.999% identical to the same incline trainer you will see advertised on infomercials at night. Whats the .001% difference? Its the name on the product sticker. Thats it. Also you will not get the iFit cards that the other one comes with $30 value. It will use those cards if you go buy them. If you have Amazon Prime the shipping is free.
So about this trainer. I have had it for 2 weeks now and use it every day. The deck is very forgiving to my obese frame. I use cross-trainer shoes and the impact on my knees is barely noticeable compared to running on the road. Honestly the most incline I have been able to pull off is roughly 20%. After that it feels as though I am going to slide off the deck, probably wont but it feels that way and this thing goes another 20% incline over that... can you say billy goat?
The hand grips do not register my pulse correctly. It was so off I went to my doctors for an EKG because I thought I had an arrhythmia. Turns out I didnt, so I ended up buying Polar A4 Pulse Heart Rate Monitor Watch which now has me squarely in my peak zone when I am exercising.
When you get it the assembly is pretty straightforward. Keep an eye on the 5foot coated wires, you will need to use them to pull the hand sensors and other cables through the arms.
My biggest gripe is with the shipper. The delivery person wanted to leave it in my driveway or put it in my garage. I needed it in my house because it was going to rain. My back is in pretty bad shape and it took some convincing to get him to at least put it in the doorway for me. They SHOULD have had 2 people to deliver this. I did not expect it to be set up, just put in the room I was going to assemble it in. The crate is massive and I guess it weighs in excess of 300 lbs. DO yourself a favor and disassemble it completely somewhere and carry in the lighter pieces. I was not sure of the amount of effort to do this, and that is why I wanted it brought in my house. Realistically, I could have taken off 50% of the parts and brought them in and saved my back a little. So, just take it apart where they drop it and carry it all in.
Pros:
>> Very comfortable deck
>> Varied and interesting workouts without the iFit cards.
>> Can use iFit cards
>> Fantastic fan that blows directly on your face/neck while exercising
Cons:

Take your treadmill workout to the next level with the FreeMotion X3 interactive treadmill, which offers an incline of up to 30 percent. When set at its maximum incline, the X3 treadmill burns up to three times the calories as compared to walking on a flat surface. This means you can burn a ton of calories without having to run, reducing the impact on your joints with every workout. The X3 is powered by a DurX 2.8-horsepower motor, which employs an axial fan to reduce noise as it cools the treadmill's internal components. The fan not only extends the motor's life, but it also enhances your workout environment, letting you watch TV or listen to music without upping the volume. The DuraSoft cushioning system, meanwhile, reduces joint impact by 15 percent compared to road running, delivering the perfect balance of comfort and safety. And with easy-to-use one-touch controls for both speed (0 to 10 miles per hour) and incline (0 to 30 percent), you can increase or decrease the intensity of your workout at a moment's notice.
The X3 also offers a number of interactive features to amplify your workout experience. The Graffix Hi-Altitude 3D display, for instance, lets you view your workout like never before. Now you can view your progress as you climb a virtual mountainside, change angles to a different perspective, or zoom in close enough to view an animated figure running up the trail with you. At the same time, the display still tracks all the standard workout metrics, such as speed, time, distance, vertical feet, and calories burned. In addition, the treadmill includes a Random Trail Generator, which takes parts of the nine built-in workouts and rearranges them into a totally new workout experience. And if that's not enough customization, the treadmill is compatible with iFit workout cards. Each card is designed by a certified personal trainer and plugs directly into the treadmill's console, automatically adjusting your resistance. All told, iFit workouts can help you lose weight, feel great, and improve your overall performance in just eight weeks.
Other features include a roomy, non-slip climbing deck with 20-by-51-inch treadbelt; an iPod-compatible music port; a built-in sound system that produces a broad range of frequencies; a CardioGrip heart rate monitor with sensors built into the handlebars; a CoolAire workout fan that helps you work out longer and more comfortably; and a 250-pound weight capacity. The X3 treadmill measures 36 by 58 by 67 inches (W x H x D), weighs 215 pounds, and carries a lifetime warranty on the motor and a one-year warranty on parts and labor.
About FreeMotion Fitness FreeMotion Fitness was founded in 1999 based on a simple yet bold observation: One-dimensional training doesn't carry over to a three-dimensional world, a place where twisting, turning, and moving in all planes is a daily fact of life. Acquired in December 2000 by Icon Health & Fitness, FreeMotion enjoys all the benefits of a globally connected company yet stands independent with respect to operations, research, development, sales, and marketing.

Overall, the treadmill is very sturdy and runs great but be advised that this is more China bs. Mine came with no instructions on how to assemble but I figured out how to put it together. I called the customer service number and got one emailed to me then got annoyed when I had to call them again because one of the cheap bolts to hold the deck up broke. I was told to call amazon since I bought it there. That just annoys me, but every company does it now. More on the United States of China to come

Sole TT8 Treadmill (2011 Model) Review

Sole TT8 Treadmill (2011 Model)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been researching treadmills for a long time now. I wanted to make sure that I purchased a treadmill that could withstand many, many, miles. I run marathons and ultra marathons so I didnt want a flimsy pc of equipment, but at the same time I didnt want to spend 5k either. I once ran a marathon(26.2) on the treadmill at my gym just for fun. All of my research lead me to this 2011 Sole TT8, and now that I'm running on it I see why. This is a solid pc of equipment and stands up to the treadmills in the Gym, maybe even better. For 2,300 dollars I cant imagine that there is a better treadmill on the market, you just have to run on it one time to see what I'm talking about.
I did read that you can assemble this in about 15 minutes, maybe if you work for Sole and put treadmills together for a living it would be possible, otherwise you are looking at about an hour or more. Pretty simple assembly though, nothing complicated.
Very happy with my purchase.

Sole S77 Treadmill (2009-2010 Model, DISCONTINUED) Review

Sole S77 Treadmill (2009-2010 Model, DISCONTINUED)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got my S77 about 2 months ago, and have used it constantly. It is quiet at anything under 10mph, changes speed and incline fairly quickly, and has quite a long running surface. I am 6'2" and 250lbs, and it has no problem handling me.
There are a few things to keep in mind when looking at the S77, though.
1. The fans blow, and I don't mean air. If you must have airflow, set a fan next to the treadmill and point it at yourself.
2. The speakers are not audiophile quality. They do, however, play music from an ipod, etc. just fine, and plenty loud. You are 15" away from them, it doesn't take much.
3. Hill mode is different than what I expected. It is not a bad thing, just different. On most gym treadmills, i.e. Star Trac, etc. you set a speed, and Hill mode adjusts the incline only. On the S77, you set the MAX speed, and the speed and incline are adjusted together, not always linearly. I ended up liking it better, actually.
As far as emulating normal Hill mode, it is quite easy. Set the program to Manual, choose your speed. Then, use the GIANT incline buttons to select your incline manually, changing it every so often. I am a clock watcher, so regular increments come easy for me, and I don't mind doing this myself.TLDR - Great treadmill. Awesome treadmill. Consider it fanless, though.
OH YEAH! Yes, the assembly was quite easy. However, have a friend available to help you lug this around. Everything is light, except for the motor/running surface, where 95% of the weight resides.

The S77, updated with enhanced features for 2009, boasts a powerful 3.5-horsepower, continuous-duty motor--the most powerful in the Sole line--that delivers speeds of up to 12 miles per hour and inclines of up to 15 percent. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.

Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

Life Fitness Club Series Treadmill Review

Life Fitness Club Series Treadmill
Average Reviews:

The actual mechanism that runs the treadmill is super-solid, but the manufacturer LifeFitness seems to have a problem making touch-screen buttons. When you push the buttons on the LED, some of them won't work; others will work after extremely hard pushing. It's a constant annoyance, say when you're running and want to start slowing down. You're forced to use the more conventional buttons on that central handlebar thingie.
Not my imagination, either. My gym has about 15 of these, and I've probably used all of them over the months since they got them. They all have this problem. Same goes for LifeFitness's elliptical trainers and stationary bikes: they all exhibit functionality problems with the on-screen buttons.
I'd love to see the company respond to this review. Are they gonna argue that I don't know how to push a button?

Simply choose any HeartSync program and the treadmill incline automatically adjusts in 0.1 percent increments to keep you in your target heart rate zone. The patented Lifepulse digital heart rate monitoring system uses three separate technologies to digitally filter noise that may disrupt the reading of your true heart rate, so you're sure to get a safe, effective workout every time.
Boredom is never an option with Life Fitness treadmills, with a wide variety of challenging workout programs built into the easy-to-use console. Save time by storing up to seven pre-programmed My Workouts, and replay them at any time. Rename them for different days of the week or different users in your household. Your weight and incline levels are automatically saved, and you can also store personal results for each workout to keep track of your progress. Based on your workout's specific time, incline and heart rate level, a customized cool-down program helps to ensure your heart rate properly returns to a normal level at the end of a workout. You can also conveniently change programs without restarting or losing your current workout information. This treadmill comes with the following programs to choose from:
Manual: Gives you complete freedom to choose your own speed and resistance levels.
Hill: Challenges you with intervals of multiple hills and valleys with each hill becoming progressively more difficult.
Random: Includes many different motivating combinations of hills and valleys.
Time-Based Goal: For a time specified by the user, this workout used 1.5 percent incline as the baseline to accurately simulate running outdoors on flat ground. Anything below a 1.5 percent grade is then used to simulate running downhill. The inclines and declines last between 30 and 60 seconds. The goal of the workout is to help users train for outdoor running.
Distance Goal: This workout is designed to build endurance. The objective is to cover a certain distance in miles. Once the objective is met, the workout automatically transitions into a cool-down phase and ends afterwards.
Calories Goal: This workout is designed to promote weight loss and weight control. The objective is to burn a certain number of calories in The selected time duration. Once the objective is met, the workout automatically transitions into a cool-down phase.
Time in Zone Goal: Console displays the accumulated time in your target heart rate zone.
Speed Interval Training: Intensity levels quickly alternate between high and low levels to simulate a typical speed workout.

It also includes the following HeartSync workouts:
Fat Burn: A great workout for beginners or for those days when you need a lighter workout. It automatically adjusts resistance to maintain your heart rate at 65 percent of your theoretical maximum.
Cardio: Maximizes caloric burn and boosts your energy level. It automatically adjusts resistance to maintain your heart rate at 80 percent of your theoretical maximum.
Heart Rate Hill™: An interval workout made up of three hills with each hill becoming progressively more difficult based on your heart rate goals. The first hill is 70 percent of your maximum heart rate (HRMax) and becomes progressively tougher (75 percent HRMax on the second and 80 percent HRMax on the third). The valley is always defined as 65 percent HRMax. It's similar to training for sports activities such as hockey, basketball, and soccer.
Heart Rate Interval™: Climb a series of alternating hills (80 percent HRMax) and valleys (65 percent HRMax). The number of times you climb each hill depends on your fitness level. It's similar to training for endurance activities such as triathlons and running.
Extreme Heart Rate™: Quickly raises and lowers resistance to get your heart rate up to 85 percent HRMax and down to 65 percent HRMax as quickly as possible. It's similar to training for sports activities such as tennis, racquetball, football, and sprinting.

About Life Fitness What started as one man's pursuit to improve his own physical condition, eventually turned into a global fitness revolution. That man was Keene P. Dimick, the mastermind behind the legendary Lifecycle® exercise bike. Even though it was slightly ahead of its time, they believed the Lifecycle exercise bike could help generations of athletes, trainers, exercisers, and people everywhere live happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.
Wilson and Nieto bought the rights to the Lifecycle bike from Dr. Dimick, perfected it, and sold it out of a motor home to health clubs across America. Despite the overwhelming odds and initial unpopularity of the Lifecycle exercise bike, the two passion-filled pioneers turned a two-man operation and a seemingly impossible vision into a prosperous reality. Along the way, they shaped the future of Life Fitness as well as the fitness industry, bringing cardiovascular training into the mainstream and helping ignite the health club boom.

Spinervals Runervals 1.0 Easy Intervals DVD
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a long distance runner and purchased this DVD for my wife. I tried it out for the first time and got a great workout. The intervals are great. It starts out BP (base pace) then three 60 second intervals at BP + 2 MPH (miles per hour). Then about 2 minutes at BP then three 60 second intervals at BP + 3 MPH. Next it goes to hills (incline) with three intervals BP + 2% incline, BP + 4% incline, then BP + 6% incline. Then a 2 minute walk to get HR (heart rate) down. To finish it off there are two or three intervals with BP + 2 MPH + 2% incline for 60 seconds, BP two minutes then BP + 3 MPH + 4% incline, then same with 6% incline with the option to opt out and stay at BP. I do this workout 1x a week and receive a benefit. I also purchased the 9.0 & 10.0 runervals and have watched them but have not tried the workout yet. I would recommend this DVD for anyone who wants to improve their cardio workout. It works for everyone since you determine what your base speed is. You will get as much benefit out of the workout at you put into it. Happy running! One last note. I only run on the treadmill as a last option but the DVD makes the time fly by and you get log about 4 miles a workout.

Sole F63 Treadmill (2011 Model)

Prior to purchasing this treadmill, I did a lot of research online and tried out various treadmills at multiple stores. I just received this treadmill yesterday and so far I am loving it. It was delivered by ABF freight and everyone I talked to at ABF (including the delivery driver) was very helpful and friendly. My husband and one of his friends carried the treadmill down to our basement. My husband put it together in less than an hour. The treadmill is very quiet and easy to program. I love having the ability to create my own programs. I have found with other treadmills the speeds of programs vary too much (starting at 2 miles per hour which is way too slow). I also like the fan and being able to plug in my ipod. Only complaint... there really isn't a book holder on the treadmill. I usually like to read magazines while on the treadmill and I don't think it would stay in place very well. Overall this is an excellent treadmill and I am very happy with my purchase.
