(More customer reviews)I've had my Cybex Arc Trainer 360A for about a week now. I'm very impressed with the quality of the machine. Very strong sturdy piece of equipment. Nothing vibrates, squeaks or creaks. It's virtually silent and an absolute pleasure to use. I'm recovering from a back injury so I need equipment that will allow me to continue to work out but without hurting myself. I can get a very intense workout without back pain. The motion is smooth and feels natural. The wide variety of programs will keep me from getting bored. Hill climbs, intervals, etc.
Be prepared to have some help around to set up this machine. It is very heavy. The unit arrives mostly assembled, but there is still some work to be done by the consumer to finish the assembly. The instruction manual was decent, but sometimes it was difficult to distinguish between many similar looking parts. We managed to assemble it in about two hours.
The user manual that arrived with my unit appears to be for an older model. It mentions a chest strap and cable for the heart rate monitor function, however this is not included and to my delight does not need to be. The heart rate monitor function is wireless and works great with my Polar FT80. It recognized my HRM and worked automatically. This really should be explained in the materials somewhere. That's my only reason for giving the Arc Trainer 4 stars.
My delivery nightmare was certainly not the fault of Cybex, so I'm not counting that against them in my review. My order qualified for free shipping. Of course this unit is very heavy so it is shipped by freight carrier. Apparently Amazon did not pay the carrier for the shipping so they tried to deliver it C.O.D. to me for $450! Of course I did not accept that and after a few calls to Amazon and a few days delay we had it all straightened out and the unit was delivered without cost to me. I felt bad for the driver from ABF who was sent alone to deliver this monster. Luckily we had someone here to help him, or it might still be on the truck!
All in all, I am very very happy with the Arc Trainer and I'm looking forward to many years of use!
UPDATE 1/26/2010: I received the most surprising phone call today. Seems that a representative of Cybex read my review here. Dug up my phone number and called to tell me that he's overnighting me the heart rate monitor chest strap. Wow. Now that's awesome customer service. Thanks Cybex!

Combining elements of a climber, hiker, and skier, the Cybex 360A Arc Trainer produces gym-quality results in the comfort of your own home, helping you get fit more efficiently than ever before. Research shows that the Cybex Arc Trainer burns more calories than any other cross trainer or elliptical cross trainer on the market. The machine accomplishes this through its Reverse Arc motion technology, which engages the muscles--the quads and glutes--that demand the most energy from the body when they're called upon to work. That means a higher intensity and a bigger calorie burn, giving you a complete workout in the shortest time possible. The Cybex 360A also uses workout variations usually reserved for the gym, with three exercise zones providing a host of workout options: a low position called the Glide (similar to a ski machine), a medium position called the Stride (similar to an elliptical trainer), and a high position called the Climb (similar to a stair climber). The zones team up with a broad incline and resistance range to emphasize almost every lower body muscle group, letting users determine the motion that best suits their fitness needs.
The Cybex 360A is also far easier on the body than most exercise equipment. The trainer's Reverse Arc motion technology places the user's toe behind the knee, reducing stress on the joints while offering a complete range of motion for both the knee and hip. The machine's Same Side Forward (SSF) orientation, meanwhile, ensures that the arm and leg on the same side move together, so that the relationship with the arm handle and footplate remains the same regardless of incline. This allows the user to always maintain an optimal posture during the exercise, which virtually eliminates back fatigue. Other cross trainers, by contrast, move the arms and legs in opposite directions, putting the body in a stressful position throughout the incline range. Finally, the Arc Trainer is equipped with long input arms that produce a more linear path, versus the shorter handles found on most equipment. This near-linear path minimizes painful wrist articulation, allowing you to get a better upper body workout and maintain good posture.
The Cybex 360A offers 13 preset programs, including quick start, manual, weight loss, cardio, hills, valleys, ramps, interval one, interval two, strength, endurance, random, and calorie goal. It's also easy to track your progress thanks to the intuitive split-level display. Other features include two water bottle holders, a magazine rack, a utility tray, and wireless heart rate monitoring.
